- People choose to live in the city rather than in small towns
- People can move to get a better job

-       Was life getting better?
-       Life was getting better and better as many between 1750-1900
-       In 1750, the population was only 11 million, about 4/5 of them were spread out around the countryside
-       By 1900, there were 40 million people living in town
-       The death rate dropped from 28 deaths every 1000 to just 18
-       Britain became overcrowded in 1900
-       People travelled more using railways to horse races, seaside , etc.
-       By 1900, it was compulsory for children to go to school so people could read and write
